Question
I am so stupid, I dropped my iTouch in a tub of water yesterday. Help?
Actually, Im using my iPod right now. Yesterday, I dropped my iPod in a tub of water. Dont ask how, haha So, I quickly took it out and I was actually listening to music and it quickly turned to static. And I turned it on and it actually worked for about a minute even after I heard the static. I was even using the wifi. Then, it stops what Im doing and it starts flashing black and white. It did this for a couple of minutes. Then it would start randomly a couple more times. At this point Im thinking I pretty much messed up my iPod bad and it wont work anymore. This morning I decided to plug in my iPod to the computer and it actually starts charging. I found a couple things wrong with it though. The time, it says its pm here in LA. Its actually am right now. I keep on trying to get the right time but it wont work. Also, the mail, it says it might have the wrong password and this is why it is not updating. I keep on trying to put in the password but it keeps on saying it failed to update the changes. I think Im going to find more problems like these. These things dont really bother me but I want to know if these things are happening as a result of the water.
Answer
shut it off right away and remove any access covers it has. set it down in front of a fan and turn it around and over every couple of hours for the next day or so. What you are trying to do is get all the water out of the inside of the case.brbrIts very common for electronic devices to be permanently damaged when submerged in water. In this case, you may have only had it short a few of the integrated circuits, which explains why some features work fine and some dont. The key to finding out if the condition is permanent is to first dry it out completely before you power it back up. then you need to reset the device to its original factory settings. When the water contacts the metal circuits, electricity can take a short cut through the water instead of on its intended path. sometimes that short cut just changes a setting, other times it causes permanent damage to the circuit.brbrGood luck!
